March 2018 – New Season looming
Albury Estate 2018 / 19 SeasonFirstly I would like to thank all of you for your continued support over the last season which has been testing at times given the lack of water. However there are glimmers of hope emerging due to a fairly wet winter which has helped replenish river and groundwater levels which will ensure a high quality of fishing well into the summer. Excitement is also building around the possibility of a new fishing lodge at Weston. This has been long overdue and will become the heart and soul of the fishery. It will consist of a large club room with comfortable tables and chairs, log burner as well as a kitchen, toilets and fishery office/small tackle shop. |
Other major news is that from April 1st we will be restructuring our day and season rod format slightly. From April 1st day ticket anglers will have access to Weston, Vale End and Syon Park. From April 1st Powdermills will become season rod only. Day ticket prices will see a slight increase next season but buying online will be cheaper than buying on the bank. Day ticket anglers will be able to purchase the new 2018/19 fish tickets during March 2018 (effectively valid for 13 months) but this must be done online. Any tickets purchased on the bank in March will receive the 2017/18 tickets that will expire at the end of March 2018. The Season Rod Package offers more value than ever with freedom to fish when you like over all waters with Powdermills becoming exclusively for season rod holders. Season rod holders will also get priority and discounts on the Albury Fishing Club events which have been really successful with guest speakers such as Charles Jardine and Peter Cockwill and grayling fishing on the river Test. Season rod prices will see a small increase after remaining static for the past two years, but if you purchase online before April 2018 you will be able to get it at last season’s price. 2018/19 Season, Day Membership and Fish Tokens are now available via the Albury Estate Website, however the Fish Tokens are still in transit and will not be available for collection until the end of next week. |
Remember that all green 2017/18 fish tokens expire at the end of March 2018. |
Club EventThe next Albury Fishing Club Event is Tuesday 24th April and is an ‘Early Season Trout Fishing Masterclass’ with Peter Cockwill. It will take place at Weston Fishery and runs from 9am to 1pm. The cost is £15 for Season and Syndicate rods who have priority on the event and have until the end of March to book (email Cameron with your request) before the event is opened up to day ticket anglers at £20 (this price does not include membership or tokens to fish which must be purchased separately if you wish to fish on the day). Local Albury News We also wanted to let you know that in the absence of Albury Game Angling shop we will now be selling fishing essentials such as flies, tapered leaders and spools of leaders. These will be available from the bailiff. Teach in Days Finally a reminder that Tony Hern will be running his hugely successful Teach In days again this year. These offer up a fantastic opportunity and introduction into fly fishing. The dates for these days are as follows and will take place at Albury Park Fishery, GU5 9JB.
Finally I would like to wish you all our best regards and tight lines. Cameron Craigs |
