Please note that due to the extremely hot weather and restricted areas that are currently worth fishing, we have restricted the fishing to syndicate and season rods as well as 4 day memberships and 3 evening rods per day. This restriction will be lifted as soon as conditions allow.
Well, what a start to the season it's been! April treated us to some explosive buzzer fishing, followed by a cracking Mayfly hatch through May and into June. It's certainly kept plenty of rods bent.
Unfortunately, summer has arrived with a vengeance. June brought some record-breaking temperatures, pushing water temperatures well above 20°C. As much as we'd love to keep stocking we've had to press pause on stocking some lakes until conditions cool down.
The good news is that Wood Lodge Pool and Kingfisher Pools will continue to be stocked every week, thanks to their lovely cool spring water. The river at Vale End and Mill Lake (the small lake) will also continue to receive weekly stockings, so there's still plenty of opportunity to wet a line.If you're heading out in the heat, the early bird really does catch the fish, and the evening rise can be just as rewarding.
If you're looking for something a little different, why not dust off the bigger fly rod and have a go for the carp? With fish nudging the 20lb mark, they certainly know how to put a bend in the rod. Just remember: barbless flies only, an unhooking mat, and a decent-sized landing net are essential. If you're new to carp on the fly, have a chat with Steve—he spends more time chasing carp than most of us spend chasing trout and is always happy to share a few tips
