ABOUT THE FISHERIES
The Estate provides premium fly fishing across four serene locations in Albury, nestled in the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty near Guildford.
Albury, Weston Lakes and Vale End are open to Day Passes, while Powdermill is exclusively for Season Passes. Park Lake, Shere is reserved for Syndicate Passes.

OUR FISH FARM
The Albury Estate Trout Farm was built in the 1990’s on the site of a former water cress Farm. Supplied by eight artesian springs in the Surrey hills, the water source remains close to 10°C all year long, which is optimal for growing fry in the fry unit and ensuring the virgin water produces great tasting fish.
The site uses concrete raceways to move fish between the ‘earth’ rearing ponds, where trout are grown in low stocking densities to maximise fish health and fish quality. The fish are fed a non-GMO diet, sourced from a sustainably managed sea Fishery. The aim is to produce top quality Rainbow trout for lake restocking and Brown trout for river fishing. The largest rainbow trout reared was 23 lbs (caught at Powdermill) and the largest brown trout was 20 lbs (caught at Syon Park). Tiger trout and blue trout up to 12 lbs have also been reared for restocking. All trout are hand graded, with no automated mechanisation, to ensure top quality fish.
The Trout Farm has been managed by Richard King for almost three decades. Richard managed a Trout and course Fishery in Sussex after leaving school and spent a year fish farming in Israel. After graduating from Sparsholt College, he managed the largest Ornamental fish farm in Portugal for two years before returning to England.
HISTORY OF THE LAKES
The Albury Estate trout fishing lakes were established in the late 1970s, many formed through the restoration of historic millponds in a valley long associated with harnessing water power.
Fed by natural springs and the Tillingbourne River, which flows from Leith Hill along the South side of the North Downs before joining the River Wey near Guildford, the lakes offer an exceptional fly fishing experience.
Stocked with high-quality rainbow trout from our own Estate Fish Farm, they provide an excellent angling environment. Carp fishing is also available at Weston.
