Fishery Report 18th September
On the trout front we are definitely seeing signs of improvement and as temperatures drop and we see more rainfall. Vale End, particularly Belmont lake (the larger of the two) is the place to fish at the moment after its drain down. The water clarity is very good and the water temperature is sitting at around 14 degrees. It has received two stockings in the last 5 days and we have a load of larger fish to stock next week. Powdermills is currently drained and hopefully back up and fishing at the start of October.
Over at Weston the fishing is still rather tough, mainly due to lack of water. Weston is our only spring fed venue and currently there is very little water feeding the lakes. Compare this to Vale End and Powdermills which are fed from the river Tillingbourne so are getting plenty of water through those lakes currently.
Remember the river season closes at the end of September so not long to have a go for the beautiful Tillingbourne wild brown trout.
The carp lake at Weston is very much still worth a go after the recent weed cut and removal. We had the largest carp caught so far, weighing in at 19lb 8oz and i don't think it will be long be fore we see a 20lb'er.
Plenty of day ticket availability going forward into the colder months.
