Fishery Report 22nd January

Some really nice fishing last week with 176 fish caught after a very cold spell just after New Year that saw the lakes frozen over for a week. With the colder weather the fish have been sitting noticeably deeper, especially in the morning and then moving up in the water as temperatures increased into the afternoon. This is when carrying two rods ( one with a sinking and one with a floater) can be a real advantage to adapt to the conditions and where the fish are in the water column.

Successful fly patterns have been a variety of bright lures, egg patterns and at times buzzers have caught well. On busy days the fish tend to become harder to catch and wary of a moving fly so fishing static under an indicator will keep fish coming to the net.

Please note that Weston fishery is closed for a private function on Saturday 31st January.
