Fishery Report 3rd October

Please note that Weston Fishery is closed this coming Monday (6th October) for a charity event. Vale End will still remains open as normal to season and day rods.

We are finally seeing the fishing improve with a total catch of 131 fish last week with Vale End being the top performer. The best lake at Vale End has been Belmont lake (larger of the two) with the fish evenly spread throughout the lake. Daddy longlegs, damsel patterns, hoppers, blobs and eggs fished under an indicator have produced. The key to keep catching has been regular fly changes and moving around the lake, not staying in the same spot.

Over at Powdermills the lake is slowly refilling after its drain down but taking a bit longer than we anticipated due to the low river levels. We hope to have it back up and running middle to end of next week but I will update the website once it reopens.

Weston fishery is suffering slightly, mainly due to the fact that the springs have dried up that supply water to the lakes. We desperately need lots of rain to re-charge the springs. Despite the lack of water the lake water temperatures have come down and we have been able to introduce some fish into Weston main lake.

A reminder that winter season rods are now available to purchase online and offer fishing from October until the end of March 2026.
