Fishing Report 30th June

With some extremely hot weather about the fishing has understandably slowed down but still the fishery produced a good catch of 118 fish last week. The most reliable fishing has been Wood Lodge and Kingfisher Pools at Weston and Mill lake and the river at Vale End. Early mornings and late evenings are going to give you the best chance of a fish.

Tips to catch in hot weather:

  1. Fish lighter. In the hot weather the fish can be finnicky so dropping down to 4lb to 5lb leader will help.
  2. Degrease your leader regularly with some form of mud (Fulling Mill or Hunts Original) which will take the shine/flash off your leader that can spook the fish.
  3. Fish small flies (size 16 to 20).
  4. Fish early mornings or late evenings and avoid the hottest parts of the day.
  5. Chat to the bailiff who will advise on the best places to fish.

Due to the hot weather and challenging trout fishing conditions we will soon be launching a Trout and Carp combination ticket that will give you day membership for the trout fishing and carp fishing. This will be a great option that allows you to fish for trout and carp on the same ticket.
