GREAT START TO THE NEW SEASON!

It’s been a great start to the new season with just over 1000 fish caught in the last three weeks. The fishing at  this time of year is as good as it gets with all lakes fishing really well.

The new website launched just over a week ago and we have had some really nice feedback on it. We still have a few areas to work on over the next couple of weeks, which will include adding a season rod reservation product. So at the moment if you are a season rod please just turn up. We still have plenty of season membership still available that you can purchase online with accompanying fish tokens.

Weston fishery as usual has seen the bulk of the angling pressure due to its crystal clear water (and having the café on site) and the excitement of seeing the fish follow and take your fly. With the water being so clear it can make fishing a bit tricky on bright, still days so careful presentation and stealth can play a big part. The fly fishing for carp lake (Millhouse) has also produced some really nice carp up to 15lb's and with the warmer weather the fish have been tempted up to the surface. Office beat on the River Tillingbourne at Weston which runs alongside the carp lake has fished very nicely and a good number of wild brown trout have been taken on nymphs. Hopefully some warmer weather and decent fly hatches should encourage the fish up.

At Vale End the river opened up on April 1st and some really nice wild and stocked fish were caught, mainly on nymphs. Belmont and Mill lake are also really clear and and the fish are showing in the first couple of feet of water and feeding hard on buzzers.

Powdermill (syndicate and season rods only) fishing is great and the next three months will offer exceptional fishing and I cant urge you enough to fish it as often as you can because the fishing will really slow down from about July.

Fly box of the week: Blue Flash Damsels, buzzers (particularly in black), small nymphs, shipmans, top hats/sugar cubes, Cats Whisker.
