ABOUT THE FISHERIES

The Estate provides premium fly fishing across four serene lakes in Albury, nestled in the Surrey Hills - an area of outstanding natural beauty near Guildford.

In Albury, Vale End and Weston lakes are open to Day Passes, while Powder Mills is exclusively for Season Passes. Park Lake is reserved for Syndicate Passes.

ALBURY'S FISH FARM

The Albury Estate fish farm, managed by Richard King, is nestled in the serene Surrey Hills. Supplied by eight artesian springs from the North Downs aquifers, its waters flow into the River Tillingbourne and then the River Wey. The farm rears triploid and late-maturing female fry in low-density conditions (max 12kg/m³) to ensure top-quality fins and tails for restocking.

High-protein, non-GMO fish feed from Biomar or Alltechcoppens supports omega-3-rich trout. Seasonal diets optimize growth, with photoperiod female Rainbow trout stocked in summer and triploids in winter for optimal survival.

HISTORY OF THE LAKES

The Albury Estate trout fishing lakes were established in the late 1970s, many formed through the restoration of historic millponds in a valley long associated with harnessing water power.

Fed by natural springs and the Tillingbourne River—which flows from Leith Hill along the South side of the North Downs before joining the River Wey near Guildford—the lakes offer an exceptional fly fishing experience.

Stocked with high-quality Rainbow Trout from our own Estate Fish Farm, they provide an excellent angling environment. Carp fishing is also available at Weston.
