Autumn in the air
Albury News
Autumn is finally around the corner after a very challenging summer due to lack of water and high water temperatures, but finally things are slowly improving on the fishing front. We have completed some fairly massive weed cuts on most lakes during the summer but we still have some to do with Weston main lake and Powdermills next in line over the next couple of weeks. Fishing has been confined to a few lakes over the summer at Wood Lodge and Kingfisher pools at Weston and Mill lake and the river at Vale End but now things are cooling down and water temperatures are dropping we can begin to trickle more fish into all the other lakes. I’m fairly confident that in a few weeks we should see the fishing back to its best.
Tactics moving forward into autumn and winter as temperatures drop will see a shift to small to medium sized lures accounting for lots of fish. Don’t disregard smaller imitative patterns such as buzzers and nymphs during the winter but it can be hard to prise yourself away from lures when the trout are smashing them. Its always handy having two rods set up, a lure rod and a nymphing/buzzer rod. I prefer a six weight for pulling lures and a five weight for fishing smaller flies.
Major News for Day Members
Some really major news is that from Monday 3rd October all day ticket anglers will have to report to the new fishing lodge to collect their fish tokens or if you already have fish tokens you will still need to activate your day membership. All fishing must still be booked online prior to fishing. Reporting to the lodge is only required between the hours of 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and MUST bedone before you start to fish Vale End or Weston fishery. Outside these times and weekends we will bailiff as we normally do and will see you on the bank.
All anglers can use the automatic gate to the new fishing lodge but must register to use it by emailing [email protected] with their full name and phone number. Once you have registered just follow the instructions at the gate. Please note that this gate does not work from your membership card but is an independent system.
Cafe
Our lodge café will be open Tuesday to Friday 8.30am to 3pm, offering breakfast, lunch and snacks. Niki is busy serving up delicious breakfast baps, pastries, paninis and more. Please do invite your family and friends to use the café. We aren’t open to the public, however family and friends of members are always welcome to come and visit.
On Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm tackle and flies will be available to purchase.
Syon Park News
As many of our members will be aware, Syon Park Fishery closed over the summer months. The period of extreme temperatures through the summer dried up the lakes water source, and the lake dropped around 12 inches. Water temperature increased, fishing became tough and then the weed began to grow.
The water clarity was great through the summer, but with the extreme temperatures caused a boom in the elodea weed growth. The low water levels meant that we could not safely launch our weed cutting boat.Â
Even though the fishery was closed, we still deployed aerators to help increase dissolved oxygen in the water.  General maintenance around the lake continued, with daily monitoring of the fish that remained in the lake.
We would like to thank all of our members for your patience and understanding, as the extreme temperatures and associated problems are something out of our control.
Syon Reopening
The Syon Park fishery will re-open Saturday 1st October, and we are looking forward to our members returning and to see some great fishing through the winter months when the trout will be hitting at there hardest.Â
We will have plenty of quality Albury Estate Fisheries rainbow trout stocked, and we will once again be offering day membership. Get out those trustee BFD’s and buzzers, and we look forward to seeing some wet nets and happy faces!
Winter season membership is now available to purchase through our website. We would like to remind our members to purchase your day membership and tokens via our website before arriving at the fishery.Â
We look forward to seeing you all soon, and it will be great to see those tight lines again around the lake!
Winter Season Membership
Winter Season Rods are now available and will be £130. Winter membership offers fishing from October 1st 2022 to end of March 2023 and gives unlimited access to all fisheries (excluding the Park Syndicate). During this period we will see the best fishing when the trout are at their most active.
This is also the time we are able to stock some other trout species that need the cooler water temperatures like Spartic trout.
Season rods can also buy fish tokens in larger multiples to make further savings.

Great news, after a couple of years of not being able to run events due to COVID we are back and have arranged a series of winter events. If you wish to attend please email Cameron
